📋 About This Mod
Huge thanks to AVeryUncreativeUsername for adding FPGE support and editing the factions to the NPCs to prevent conflicts.
This mod brings the central Freeside streets to be more of a crowded place, like the comics. This functions similarly to my other mod Strip Gamblers but for Freeside. This mod also adds more benches, beds, etc to accommodate the sandbox NPCs. So they'll be doing more than just walking endlessly until time itself ends.
Performance may be terrible depending on your system and mods. It's fine on my end but may not be for others. Ensure you have some mods that improve on stability and performance like 4GB Patch and Stewie's Engine Optimizations and what not.
Simple Freeside Overhaul
It's highly recommended to use this. It adds a lot of detail to Freeside while maintaining it's vanilla style.
Use this to add extra life to Freeside.
Simple Open Freeside
Use with this mod to make Freeside feel a lot bigger. Just ensure you're using it on a new playthrough.
This mod adds shacks to the rooftops of Freeside. I suggest using this to give Freeside the feeling of a more residential presence. Goes great with Crowded Central Freeside.
Crowded Central Freeside is a lightweight NPC mod for Fallout: New Vegas that adds more NPCs to the central Freeside area, making it feel more alive. It works with both open and vanilla Freeside layouts, offering a simple compatibility solution for players seeking a busier environment.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 140 endorsements and over 16k downloads.
- Works with both open and vanilla Freeside, so you don't have to pick a side.
- Lightweight and focused—does exactly what it says without bloat.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated December 2025—may not be compatible with future game patches or mods.
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want Freeside to feel more lived-in and crowded, especially if you use an open Freeside mod. Skip if you're looking for new quests or story content—this is purely a population boost.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use an open Freeside mod, make sure to load Crowded Central Freeside after it to ensure compatibility.
- Check your load order with a tool like LOOT to avoid conflicts with other NPC mods in Freeside.
- Since the mod is simple, you can manually place the files in your Data folder if you prefer not to use a mod manager.
