With the release of Fallout 4 on the horizon (or already out, depending on when you read this), one last hurrah arrives for Fallout: New Vegas. The Combined Community Sound Pack defies the very laws of mathematics and jumps straight from 2. 1 to 2. 5 with the addition of new firing sounds, new reload sounds, tweaked distance effects, and the long-awaited addition of new sounds for both energy weapons and explosives. 77 different firing sounds, 57 reloading sounds, and 66 distance sounds combine in several hundred new or modified sound entries to provide the most comprehensive sound overhaul for Fallout: New Vegas this side of Jacobstown.
If you're wondering what changed in between 2. 5c and 2. 5d, I don't really remember, because this mod was technically already on 2. 5d as of March.
WHAT IS THE COMBINED COMMUNITY SOUND PACK?
The Combined Community Sound Pack, or CCSP for short, is a massive compilation of user-made sounds from the internet community. Nearly all weapons have brand new unique firing 2d, firing 3d, and firing distant sounds. What does this mean? Well, for one thing, you can now tell which firearms are being fired at a distance instead of hearing a generic crack or pop. Several hundred sound entries have been added or modified. There are 2d entries, 3d entries, and distance entries as well as modified reloading sound effects. Unique weapons that did not have unique sounds now have their own sound effect, such as the All-American, Lucky, the Mysterious Magnum, or Big Boomer. The CCSP covers content from all aspects of Fallout: New Vegas and as such requires all the DLC to run, at the moment. That may change should there be any demand for a non-DLC version, but it seems everyone who loves to mod Fallout New Vegas has all the DLC by now.
HOW TO INSTALL/UNINSTALL:
Extract the sound folder and CCSP2_5d.esp to your Fallout New Vegas/data directory. Start the launcher for Fallout: New Vegas and enable CCSP2_5d.esp to activate the mod. Please note the latest version of this mod requires ALL DLC to function. This includes Courier's Stash, Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, and Gun Runners' Arsenal.
To uninstall, just run New Vegas's launcher and un-check CCSP2_5d.esp. Alternatively, you can either delete CCSP2_5d.esp and your sound/CCSP directory, or just divide by zero. That one has some rather harsh repercussions for the universe, though, so unless you're with Team Galactic I'd stick with unchecking the esp.
