📋 About This Mod
You shouldn't be able to kill someone in power armor with a weak 9mm handgun, let alone a BB gun or a pocket knife.
In the vanilla game, damage dealt (after damage resistance has been taken in to account) is calculated by simply ignoring the DT's worth of damage from the original damage value. If a shot is fired with a damage value of 40 against a target with 10 DT, the target will take 30 damage. However, damage dealt cannot be lower than 20% of the original damage value. If a 10 damage shot is fired against target with 20 DT, the target will still take 2 damage.
What this mod is simply removes the minimum damage dealt value, making heavily armored enemies impossible to hit without high damage weapons or armor piercing bullets. Heavy armor is a lot more valuable and combat is more difficult, especially in the early game.
Compatibility:
As far as I know this should be compatible with everything that doesn't change the "fMinDamMultiplier" value. Load the plugin after any major overhauls to combat or they might override the effects of this mod.

Absolute Damage Threshold removes the minimum damage modifiers from Fallout 4's damage calculations, so weak weapons like 9mm pistols and BB guns deal negligible damage against armored targets like power armor. This makes combat more realistic and rewards using appropriate weapons. It's a simple gameplay overhaul for players who want tougher, more logical encounters.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Makes combat feel more realistic—no more killing a raider in power armor with a pipe pistol
- Lightweight and focused: does one thing and does it well
- Community-tested with 213 endorsements and over 6,000 downloads
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2017—may be incompatible with current game versions or DLC
- No documentation provided, so you're on your own for installation and load order
- Could make early game frustrating if you don't have decent weapons yet
For Fallout 4 players who want more realistic damage and hate bullet sponges in reverse. If you're tired of seeing a raider in power armor shrug off a minigun but die to a pipe pistol, this is for you. Skip if you prefer arcade-style combat or don't want to worry about weapon choice.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place the mod file in your Fallout 4 Data folder and enable it in your mod manager or launcher.
- If you use other gameplay overhaul mods, test this one last in your load order to avoid conflicts.
- Pair with a weapon rebalance mod to ensure you have viable options against heavy armor.
