Carbon’s drift physics with handbrake drift aswell, rebuilt inside Need for Speed Most Wanted. This is not a set of tweaked sliders made to “feel kind of like” Carbon — the actual drift code from Carbon was taken apart and recreated in Most Wanted, running at the same point in the physics update and using the same force and torque functions. cars that exist in both games also receive Carbon’s exact per-car drift tuning and physics values. Four drift styles, a live on-screen tuner, and full support for every car (including add-ons).
Installation instructions
-
[]Make sure you have Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) PC, patched to v1. 3.[/]
[]Install the Ultimate ASI Loader (dinput8.dll) next to speed.exe if you don’t already have it:
https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases
(Most mod packs like Redux already include it.)[/]
[]Copy the “scripts” folder from this download into your game folder so you end up with:
<game>\scripts\NikosDrift.asi
<game>\scripts\NikosDrift.ini[/]
[]Launch the game and press F8 in a race to open the tuner and confirm the mod is running.[/]
Main features
• Four selectable drift styles (F10 to cycle):
– Carbon – handbrake drift with slightly snappier turn-in and more push
– DriftRace – Carbon’s drift-event physics (any slide starts the drift, no handbrake required)
– Custom – Fully free-to-tune starting point
– Hybrid – Handbrake initiates the drift, then switches to DriftRace physics for glide, speed hold, and angle control
• Live on-screen tuner (F8) with keyboard and controller support — every change applies instantly and is saved to the ini
• Gear hold during drifts so the engine stays in its power band
• Carbon’s exact per-car drift data for shared vehicles (can be toggled)
• Works on every car, including Most Wanted and add-on cars
• Extremely safe installation — every modified code location is verified byte-for-byte; mismatched sections simply disable themselves instead of crashing
• Fully configurable via NikosDrift.ini (all hotkeys, multipliers, and features explained with ranges)
Requirements
• Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) PC – version 1. 3 only (speed.exe 1. 3)
• Ultimate ASI Loader by ThirteenAG (dinput8.dll)
• No other mods are required. Fully tested with Black Edition Redux V3, MW BLACK EDITION, Unlimiter, ExtraOptions, MW360Tweaks, NFSMWRaceFixes, widescreen fix, and common graphics mods.
Shout outs
Huge thanks to EA Black Box for the original Carbon drift physics this mod ports (fan project – not affiliated with or endorsed by EA).
Massive respect to the NFS:MW decompilation project (github.com/dbalatoni13/nfsmw) and Brawltendo’s earlier physics work — invaluable for understanding Most Wanted’s systems.
Omar Cornut for Dear ImGui (the live tuner’s UI).
ThirteenAG for the Ultimate ASI Loader.
