MW Native Free Roam Racer
Bring more life to Rockport with independently roaming AI racers and Underground 2-style encounter battles.
Meet rivals while exploring the city, follow them to issue a challenge, and turn the open road into a one-on-one race. There is no fixed event route: the leader chooses where to go.
Features
-
[]Roaming AI racers: Configurable population from 1 to 15 vehicles.[/]
[]Vehicle variety: Selects nearby models in price/performance ranking relative to your current car.[/]
[]Random customization: Supported appearance parts are randomized. Invalid selections are retried, with a stock fallback.[/]
[]Career-aware tuning: AI performance upgrades respect your career unlocks. Nitrous is fitted when unlocked and supported.[/]
[]Persistent vehicle calibration: Builds a vehicle catalog for your installation and reuses it until relevant game data changes.[/]
[]Encounter battles: Challenge a rival through the game’s configured Join Event action.[/]
[]Dedicated battle HUD: A green/red distance gauge shows who is leading.[/]
[]GPS assistance: When you trail by at least 100 meters, native GPS can guide you toward the opponent. An existing player-selected destination takes priority.[/]
[]Background police activity: Existing patrols can discover and pursue roaming racers.[/]
[]Optional encounter voices: Supports start, victory and defeat lines extracted from an owned copy of Underground 2.[/]
Follow a roaming rival until the challenge notification appears, then press your configured Join Event button.
The leading car chooses the route. Overtaking switches the lead. Pull 300 meters ahead to win—or fall 300 meters behind and lose.
Victory reward: Stable AI = 1,000 cash; Custom AI = 300 at BL15 up to 3,000 at BL1.
During a battle, other racers managed by this mod temporarily lose their minimap markers so you can focus on your opponent.
AI modes and career rewards
Custom AI (shipping default): The opponent follows the general direction of your recorded leading trajectory rather than strictly retracing every point or insisting on the traffic route. Improved catch-up speed requests help it close the gap. Within 15 meters, when direction/alignment checks pass, it transitions into an overtaking attack while retaining speed assistance.
Stable AI: The existing AI mode remains separately selectable. In the INI's Encounter section, use AIMode = Custom AI or AIMode = Stable, then restart. Old INIs without AIMode retain Stable behavior.
When Custom AI leads, CustomAILeaderPowerScale = 1. 25 applies a configurable drive-output boost. This is not a speed multiplier. Both modes retain configurable trailing-AI output tiers: 1. 50 / 1. 75 / 2. 00 for 0–100 / over 100–200 / over 200–300 meters.
Custom AI rewards are captured at battle start and rounded down to hundreds. BL15→BL1: 300 / 400 / 600 / 800 / 1,000 / 1,200 / 1,400 / 1,600 / 1,800 / 2,000 / 2,200 / 2,400 / 2,600 / 2,800 / 3,000. Unknown/out-of-range rank: 300. Stable AI always pays 1,000. Losses and disqualifications pay nothing.
Lead/result notifications also work during police pursuits, with bounded retries if the HUD is temporarily unavailable.
Optional weapon integration
With a supported MWArsenal build, a player EMP or shockwave that actually affects another vehicle (including police) during a battle causes disqualification. Firing without hitting, ordinary contact and harmless Turbo/jammer use do not count. Unsupported binaries disable integration, not ordinary battles.
Neither weapon mod is required for normal roaming or encounter battles.
Default settings
[]AI mode: Custom AI[/]
[]Maximum racers: 6, configurable from 1–15[/]
[]Population radius: 600 meters[/]
[*]Minimap marker radius: 200 meters
