Part Inspector

This is the My Summer Car version of Part Inspector, but the file should still work fine with My Winter Car too.

This mod contains zero AI.

Summary

Part Inspector is a mod that lets you look at items to see info about them. It started as only showing the conditions of car parts (as the name implies), but it now does much more than that: you can also see things like the fullness of fluid containers, the amount of items left in packages, the freshness of food items, and some tuning-related stuff like rocker valve lash and the exact bump/rebound values of rally suspensions. If you can think of a bit of info that the game doesn't currently let you easily access, there's a good chance this mod will let you see it.

The idea with all this is to fill in the gap in the information that MSC provides, with the goal of reducing reliance on save editors and the like as much as possible while still keeping the core experience intact.

Essentially every aspect of the mod is customizable and/or independently toggleable, so it's highly encouraged to tinker with the settings and figure out what feels right for you.

Item information

• []Show car part condition: Displays the status of any car part that can wear down, get dirty, or be broken. By default it shows a general description (i.e. mint, shoddy, bad, etc.), but it can be configured to show exact numbers too.[/]

  []Show container fullness: Displays how much of the contents are left for fluids (motor oil, coolant, and so on) as well as solids (ground coffee and grill charcoal).[/]

  []Show package quantity: Displays how many individual items are remaining inside packages, such as spark plug boxes and fuse packages.[/]

  []Show food freshness: Displays how fresh comestible food is.[/]

• []Show valve lash: Displays rocker valve clearance when looking at the adjustment screw with a screwdriver.[/]

  []Show rally suspension tuning: Shows the percentage of bump/rebound. This is already doable in-game by counting the ticks from maximum or minimum; this just makes it faster.[/]

  • []Most of the time, only fully unbolted parts show their integrity, and only when you're not in tool mode. This is a vanilla limitation.[/]

    []There is some modest text flickering on the interaction text display location. This is also a vanilla limitation -- go look at a thing on any car's dashboard and you'll notice the same thing happens there. For best results, use the in the item's name display location instead; this is the default, and is recommended.[/]

    []Safe to add and remove from existing saves! No new objects are added, and this mod doesn't save any data.[/]

    Compatibility & troubleshooting

    If you run into issues, please report them like this:

    • []Go to the main menu and turn on any of the logging options in the mod's settings that pertain to your problem.[/]

      []Load the game and reproduce the bug with the new logging options active.[/]

      []Upload your output_log.txt (or its contents) somewhere like pastebin, Google Drive, whatever; as long as I can access it, that's the important thing. I need the entire file, not just specific lines.[/]

      []Make a report on the Bugs tab here, or as a GitHub issue on the source repository. Explain the problem you're having, how to reproduce it, and what other mods you're running. Give a link to the output_log.txt you uploaded as well.[/]

    Issue reports that don't follow these steps may be ignored and deleted, and I reserve the right to block you (especially if you're a jerk about it.)

    You gotta help me out here. Without this info, my ability to follow up on bugs is much worse. I really want to have a stable mod and I can't do that without information!
