Old Satsuma Wreck Restoration Project

Uunio-Aapio woke up to the sound of his phone vibrating off the kitchen table and smashing onto the floor.

He groaned and answered immediately.

“…what now.”

Pena sounded out of breath.

“BRO. I FOUND A SATSUMA.”

Uunio-Aapio sat up.

“I DON’T KNOW.”

“It’s upside down in a pond.”

“And it has NO ENGINE.”

Twenty minutes later the boys arrived near the small muddy pond not far from grandma’s house and a little away from the train tracks. The evening fog rolled slowly between the trees while distant train noises echoed through the forest.

And there it was.

A fully built Satsuma.

Upside down.

Sitting on its roof in the shallow pond like somebody had simply dropped it there from the sky.

But the engine bay was completely empty.

Just loose wires hanging everywhere.

The car looked disturbingly complete otherwise.

Pena stared at it proudly.

“Told you.”

Uunio-Aapio slowly walked around the wreck in disbelief.

“How does somebody even DO this?”

Nobody had an answer.

The windshield was cracked.

Mud covered the interior roof.

One headlight blinked weakly somehow despite there being no engine or battery.

A duck sat on the rear bumper.

The boys carefully climbed down toward the pond.

The Satsuma made awful creaking noises every time the water moved.
