Def Jam MK 1 Pack 4 - Nikki Minaj Iggy Azalea Lil Kim Carmen Electra

Working on this pack went really well and quick for 90% of it. I was able to get Carmen Electra and Lil Kim done in an hour. Nicki Minaj took a bit of time to get all of the Call Of Duty textures in the right setup and then Atlased. But holy shit.... Iggy Azalea was a nightmare. Don't think I have worked on a model that had that many issues ever. Everything from the hair, to the face, eyes, costume, then exporting it and atlasing it. Probably spent the time it takes to make 10-15 mods doing this 1 but I was determined to learn what was blocking me and I had too much time this week.

A tip that I have learned that makes Atlasing models significantly easier is to ensure they are pngs and create a new material that is named the same plus V2 and add only the diffuse image color. Repeat this process for every material and as long as the size of the combined atlas doesn't exceed 15,000x15,000 you should have no problem. Resize your individual textures if you need to pre-atlasing. After about 15+ hours of working on Iggy, I decided to move on. This is without a doubt the last update I will make for her unless she is flat out broken.

Mods

Nikki Minaj over Mileena's Default 001 Skin

Iggy Azalea over LiMei's 002 Skin - Skin 001 has texture problems which caused issues. Unlock 002 by hitting mastery 15 -17 for Li Mei.

Lil Kim over Frost's Default 001 Skin

Carmen Electra over Sonya's 002 Skin. Ran into issues with materials on the first sonya skin. Sorry!

New Obstacles

- Baking Textures to allow them to be Atlas'ed

- Backface Culling issues - Once I atlas, backface culling is automatically enabled in blender. Export to unreal and its back to being enabled. Then I have to manually uncheck in unreal and MK engine turns it on again... Rendereding the texture useless.

- Creating partial roughness maps. Learned about . 3-. 6 and what is appropriate for skin. Greys for neutral, etc.

- UV Map altering. This is overwhelming and lots of things to learn.

- Clothes tweaking

- Creating Latex material between Roughness and RMA. Successfully achieved this on Iggy's Boots and Nikki's body through testing and learning.

- Hitting max size on the atlas combine. Learning about loss of quality on re-sizing images and fixing those after re-sizing. Stay under 15,000x15,000.

Known Bugs

Nicki Minaj

- Upper right part of bodysuit near the right breast clips into the body when the arm pulls it back. Sorry about that!

Iggy Azalea

- Arm weights are intense and off during character select. Much better in game

Carmen Electra

- No Issues

- There is no Opacity on the main material. This makes her shirt have tiny black edges around it where they would normally be invisible.
