📋 About This Mod
This provides the player with dialogs that allow them to become a vampire or a werewolf if they so choose. The player is shown prompts that allow them to voluntarily acquire the disease (Porphyric Hemophilia) that leads to vampirism or the disease (Sanies Lupinus) that leads to werewolfism. The vampire dialog presents options for which specific vampire clan the player would like to be the source of the infection, although it should be noted that this does not automatically mean the player has joined the selected clan.
These dialog options will be presented to the player once, either at the time of character creation or the first time the player loads a pre-existing save that was created before installing this mod. After being presented with these dialogs once, it won't be displayed to the user again until they either load a different pre-existing save or create a new character. After 3 days have passed with either infections present, the transformation will complete the next time the player sleeps, either in a bed or outside of a city.
Note that this is primarily intended as a quick and easy way to either start a new character as a vampire or werewolf, or to cause an existing character to turn into either one. This mod is not considered lore-friendly since it does not require interaction with vampires or werewolves in order for to contract either Porphyric Hemophilia or Sanies Lupinus. This also means it's possible for the player to become a werewolf before visiting Solstheim.
I did find that, through scripting, it is technically possible for the player character to be infected with both Porphyric Hemophilia and Sanies Lupinus simultaneously. However, the werewolf transformation takes precedence when both infections are present, and once the player is a werewolf, they cannot be transformed into a vampire (or at least I can't find a way to make it happen). So as far as I can tell, it is not possible for a player to have both transformations take place. As such, I have written the scripts such that the player can only elect to receive the infection for vampirism or werewolfism, but not both.
Although I've updated all of the info with this mod to reflect that this now supports vampire and werewolf functionality, I still have the original version of the mod that was vampire-only in case there are any users that wish to try out this mod but don't have the Bloodmoon expansion.
This mod prompts the player once during character creation or on first loading a save to choose between becoming a vampire or werewolf, with vampires having a selection among 3 options. It's a simple, lightweight addition for players who want to start as a supernatural creature without grinding. With 88 endorsements and last updated in 2022, it's a niche but functional choice.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Simple and straightforward—no complex setup, just a one-time prompt.
- Works with existing saves, so you can transform a current character without restarting.
- Community-tested with 88 endorsements and over 1,800 downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Description is incomplete—doesn't specify what the 3 vampire options are or how werewolves are handled.
- Last updated in 2022, so may not be compatible with the latest game patches.
- Limited scope: only affects character generation, no other gameplay changes.
For players who want to start as a vampire or werewolf from the get-go, without grinding through quests. Also handy for roleplayers who want a supernatural origin story. Skip if you're looking for deeper vampire/werewolf overhauls—this only handles the initial choice.
