📋 About This Mod
What does this mod do?
v1. 0. Bare bones, it adds a handful of greetings and the dialog topic that provides date-sensitive responses. Now, guards will wish you a happy Harvest Festival one day every year. You can commemorate your arrival in Vvardenfell with Socucius Ergalla, or ask people if today is a "special occasion" to reveal a bit of the varied cultural or religious observances of Tamriel. Version v1. 0 is the unambiguously safest of the versions with the fewest new barriers to vanilla gameplay.
v1. 2. Adds several maybe intrusive Greetings in which stores and quest givers become unavailable for certain days. Maybe not so as long as they could "realistically" close, no longer than three days at a time, but this small gaps - especially around the new year - may be kind of frustrating. Part of me thinks this will make it feel more like a rolling annual cycle of events instead of a sectioned off lore synthesis topic. Holidays are supposed to put other things on hold but it will affect narrative progression this way. And possibly be broken. As UESP notes, the Imperial Cult "conduct the majority of their quest-dialog in the form of greetings" so giving them additional higher priority greetings may cause problems. Let me know how it goes for you.
v1. 3. Typo in previous version caused a failure to compile. I really should've caught that. Good time to mention that this was tested using the vanilla engine.
v1. 5. Redeployed all of the Heart's Day greetings as they were hopelessly broken. Fixed a widespread syntax error that was pointed out. Also, now on South Winds Prayer and North Winds Prayer, members of the Imperial Cult will give you a cure disease potion if you are diseased.
v1. 6. There was an error in the scripts that had to be fixed that prevented annual dialog from giving you items it was supposed to. All sorts of religions lie but like, it'd be brazen.
You can pick up the topic "special occasion" by speaking to Eldafire when you first arrive in Seyda Neen. Now you can also pick up the topic by talking to anyone who is busy today.
As Holidays Across Tamriel already covers the cultural traditions of Morrowind and the idea behind this is marginally similar, I've focused on outlander traditions, sourcing ideas for the calendar mostly from Daggerfall, Arena, and ESO's holiday stuff and the responses cover about 70 "special occasions" across a scattershot sampling of Tamrielic in-game cultures. Some of the responses may be a little hard to find and for now I'm just gonna lean into that for now.
In the future, I plan on expanding the concept further but at the moment this is what one might call "a minimum viable product."
Testing this would've been impossible without Necrolesian's Dynamic Timescale mod.
