📋 About This Mod
Partially inspired by the text set renderer by SosnoviyBor. This mod is intended for mod authors, not end users.
Included with this download is an example Lua script that showcases the basic usage of each of these renderers. Additionally, all scripts are originally written in and compiled from Teal. Anyone is welcome to make changes to these renderers or build new renderers based off of them. You may also package these renderers with your own mod, or alternatively direct users to this page as a requirement.
As of this initial release, there are three renderers available for use:
- []The text set renderer, which allows users to add to or remove from a list of strings.[/]
- []The multiselect renderer, which provides a list of toggle buttons all associated with a single key. Particularly useful for saving visual space by grouping related settings which would have previously each required their own individual select renderers.[/]
- []The multinumber renderer, which is similar to the vanilla number renderer but allows grouping multiple related settings together under a single key.[/]

Sorre's Custom Renderers for OpenMW provides mod authors with three Lua-based UI renderers: a text set, a multiselect toggle group, and a multinumber field. Inspired by SosnoviyBor's text set renderer, it includes an example script and open licensing for modification or repackaging. Stands out by grouping related settings to save visual space in mod configuration menus.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Purpose-built for mod authors, not end users — fills a niche for OpenMW mod configuration.
- Open licensing: author explicitly allows modification and redistribution in your own mods.
- Early release with 4 endorsements and 44 downloads, showing initial interest from the modding community.
⚠️ Cons
- No install or integration instructions provided for mod authors who want to use these renderers.
- Only three renderer types available at initial release, limiting variety for complex settings menus.
- Low endorsement count (4) means limited community testing and feedback so far.
For OpenMW mod authors who want to build custom settings menus without coding each renderer from scratch. Ideal for those comfortable with Lua and Teal, or willing to use the compiled scripts as-is. Skip if you're an end user looking for gameplay changes — this is a developer resource.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check the included example Lua script first to understand how each renderer behaves in practice.
- If you modify the Teal source, you'll need a Teal compiler, but the provided Lua files can be used directly in your mod.
- When packaging these renderers with your mod, consider directing users to this page as a requirement, as the author permits.
