📋 About This Mod

Sit Down Please

Ambient sitting, sleeping, waking, and furniture use for OpenMW NPCs – Part of the May Modathon Month

Description

Sit Down Please is an OpenMW Lua mod that makes it feel less like everyone in Tamriel has been ordered to stand perfectly still.

NPCs can sit on supported chairs, stools, benches, and barstools, or sleep in supported beds during configured hours. They can also wake up, return toward their original position, and generally behave a little more like people using the furniture around them.

Main Features

  • []Sitting: NPCs can sit on supported chairs, stools, and benches.[/]

[]Sleeping: NPCs can sleep in supported beds during configurable hours.[/]

[]Lights: NPCs are no longer psycopaths who keep the lights on all day -- lights are turned out when NPCs are trying to sleep. [/]

[]Initial Placement: NPCs are already live and in the midst of interacting with the world from the moment you enter a cell.[/]

[]Blacklists: NPCs, furniture, and cells can be excluded in the settings if something needs to be skipped.[/]

[]Furniture Profiles: Work in progress profiles that aim to correct placement and floating of SDP actors, with optional (albeit somewhat buggy) fallback options in the settings.[/]

[]Calibration Tools: Developer-facing calibration tools for reporting and testing incorrect furniture placement.[/]

    New in 3. 5 -- Stations!

Stations mark the first step towards an even more interactive (yet opportunistic) world, setting up the beginnings of a framework for allowing scenes of various types to play-out as you explore Tamriel. There are many things that will be done with this system, but for the time being only the following example is implemented:

    • []Lectures: Qualified NPCs can opportunistically make use of lecterns with nearby seating as stations for presenting to an audience. Nearby NPCs can take a seat and react with attention, nodding, clapping, and other various idles.[/]

      Compatibility

Short version: Sit Down Please is designed to add ambiance where it makes sense, rather than fight every other mod for control.

In general, if another mod is clearly controlling an NPC through travel, follow/escort behavior, combat, direct movement, scripted animation, schedule logic, or purposeful placement, Sit Down Please should yield. Actors following you also do not deserve to relax, so naturally... they can not.
