📋 About This Mod
S. A. D. is a MWSE-Lua replacer for Morrowind's level-up menu and attribute allocation system, which allows for free allocation of attributes using a point system. It comes bundled with its very own approach to a balanced state-based health system, featuring a function adjusted to maintain vanilla balance while avoiding the need for min-maxing.
With this mod, every time you level up, you are given a fixed (and configurable) amount of attributes, which you are free to distribute between your attributes as you see fit. Without it, you are SADder. How you acquire levels is identical to vanilla: level up your skills through use, then rest to increase your attributes.
Through the Mod Configuration Menu, S. A. D. allows you to set:
-
[]The amount of attribute points you receive every level
[
]The maximum base level of your attributes (requires MCP attribute uncap)[]The maximum amount of points you can spend per attribute, per level (uncapped by default)
[]The option to set your minimum max health to 1 (to prevent death from attribute damage/drain effects)
Requirements:
Compatibility
(A lack of compatibility could cause issues such as health and level values not updating in the UI)
Compatible:
[]UI Expansion
[]Dynamic Class Images
Incompatible:
[]Other state-based health mods
In Morrowind, your (base) maximum health is a function of your level, strength, and endurance - not your current endurance, but your endurance throughout the levels. There have been many mods aimed at making the base health function depend on your current endurance, instead of endurance over time. This is another attempt at the same, in what is intended to be a more balanced method.
Let’s cut to the chase: let's consider your endurance over time as a series x₁, x₂, …, xₙ, where n is your current level. Base health in vanilla Morrowind is then calculated as:
(strength + xₙ)/2 + f(x,n)
Where f(x,n) is the summation of xᵢ, from i=2 to i=n, divided by 10.
We are looking to find a new function to replace f(x,n), and which depends only upon xₙ; we will call this g(x,n). The traditional approach to this problem is to simply take g(x,n) = (n-1)*xₙ/10. The values produced by this approach are achievable in-game, insofar as it is indeed possible to start the game with the maximum 100 endurance. However, this is scarce
Simple Attribute Distribution (S.A.D.) overhauls the level-up menu in a game, replacing skill multiplier-based progression with a fixed, configurable number of attribute points to allocate freely each level. It introduces a balanced approach to character growth, appealing to players who prefer direct control over their builds. With 27 endorsements and 504 downloads, it's a niche but functional gameplay tweak.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Gives you full control over your build every level—no more grinding skill multipliers.
- Configurable point amounts mean you can tune the difficulty to your liking.
- Tiny but dedicated following (27 endorsements) suggests it works as advertised.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in June 2023—might be out of sync with the latest game patches.
- Small mod with limited community feedback (27 endorsements) means you're on your own if issues pop up.
For players who hate the vanilla leveling system and want to hand-craft their character's growth without relying on skill multipliers. If you're a theorycrafter or enjoy min-maxing, this gives you direct control. Skip if you're fine with the default progression or want a more complex overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check the mod's config file to adjust the number of attribute points per level—start with the default to see if it feels right.
- Since the mod changes the level-up menu, test it on a new character first to avoid messing up an existing save.
- If the game has a mod manager, use it to install and uninstall cleanly; otherwise, manually place files in the correct folder.
