📋 About This Mod

A mod that allows modders & players to easily create new merchant tables to make merchants stock custom items! This can be used to add broad compatibility so modders no longer need to create patches to have their custom items get stocked into merchants inventories from other mods.

  • []Use custom seeds so merchant tables stay the same between saves[/]

[]Use filters such as "NPC class" & "region" to determine which merchants will get the items injected.[/]

[]Whitelist NPCs to ensure they will get included even if they do not meet the qualifications[/]

[]Blacklist NPCs to ensure they DO NOT get included even if they meet the qualifications[/]

[]Tables are created with easily readable YAML files.[/]

Compatibility:

Currently compatible with Delayed Restock

Example YAML:

# Creates custom merchant tables, this injects items into merchants inventories who meet the specifications listed below

# New yaml files should go in database/merchantapi

merchant-stock-template: # When creating a new table, it must be named "merchant-stock-*:". You can have multiple tables in a single yaml

seed: 2024             # Set a custom seed to keep generation consistent between saves, or remove this to have random generation.

classes:               # Define which classes should be able to recieve the items.

regions:               # Define regions in which the merchants should reside in in order to recieve the items.

- Vvardenfell        # Vvardenfell is a region group defined in "regions/morrowind-regions.yaml"

- Mournhold Region   # This is a region name, you can use this as an alternative to region-groups

item-count:            # Item-count detrmines how many unique items the merchant can pull from the table.

quantity:              # Quantity determines the size of the stacks of each item. Ex. 7 bread

quantity-bias: 1. 0     # Quantity-bias determines the % chance any given item could have more than 1. 1. 0 = 100%, 0. 85 = 85%, etc...

blacklisted-npcs:         # List NPC IDs to blacklist them

whitelisted-NPCs:         # List NPC IDs to include them, even if they do not meet the other requirements

item-table:        # List item IDs here, this is the pool of potential items a merchant can recieve

- Example_01

- Example_02

item-chances:      # An optional setting to allow for certain items to be rarer than others. List the item ID & then give it a percent 1,100. Example "daedric_cuirass: 10" means if daedric curaiss is rolled initially it gets a second 1,100 roll with a 10% chance to spaw

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solves a real pain point: custom merchant inventories without wrestling with scripts

⚠️ Cons

  • Niche audience – only useful if you're modding OpenMW, not for casual players
  • Low adoption (18 endorsements) means fewer community examples or troubleshooting help
🎯 Is This For You?
For OpenMW modders who want to add custom shop inventories without diving into complex scripting. Also for tinkerers who enjoy building their own merchant setups. Skip if you're a player looking for ready-made content – this is a toolkit, not a content mod.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind engine – this mod won't work on vanilla.
  • Check the mod's forum or comments section on the Nexus page for community-made examples of merchant tables.
  • If you're new to OpenMW modding, start by copying an existing merchant table from the base game and tweaking it.
