📋 About This Mod

8/24/2025 Update: New version Advanced. Advanced version gives Sneak Under like functionality for Openmw.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/57271   <<< Inspired by this mod but made for Openmw instead of MGE.

Requires Devilish Shrink Spell >>>>  https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/54898 <<<< This uses no assets from Devilish Shrink but REQUIRES the meshes to shrink the furniture/obstacles to make crouching/crawling make you able to fit through low spaces.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/55241   <<<< I recommend this too Smooth First Person Sneak for Openmw.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/57268  <<<<< This is not a REQUIREMENT but is my companion mod SashandraBarlowi, and Sashandra has been updated to easily keep up with a player character crawling underneath obstacles.

Only Advanced version has the crouching/crawling mechanic. You have three different heights- Non-Sneak Height, Sneak height with Weapon Drawn or Spell Readied, and Crawl which is Sneak without Wepdrawn and without Spellreadied. Note: HeightModVanillaAdv. ESP is there if you only want the crouch/crawling functionality but want no height customization at all.

Also: In Adv you get a new slide ability, entering crouch while moving makes you slide temporarily increasing movement speed for less than a second. Also you need at least 15 fatigue or you can't slide. Also shorter characters can slide slightly more often but just barely. Homunculus characters can slide every 5 seconds, giant characters every 6. 60 seconds, and everyone else is somewhere in between, generally a cooldown difference of 0. 20 between each default height level. Lastly: You take extra normal weapon damage and shock damage while crawling, and reduced shock damage and reduced normal weapon damage when sliding, to try and feel a little more realistic/scientific... Oh yes and only use one ESP or else things won't work right.

Allows you to customize the PCs height... Within a reasonable range that it doesn't make the game unplayable at least. Simply download whichever version you want for the PC character to have... Be forewarned, I'm not sure if something extreme like a giant Altmer can fit into certain settlements however, as I haven't tested that. There is the optional cosmetic only versions, and the primary files make stature have a slight effect on gameplay. Taller characters get increased hit chance from longer arms, but a permanent fatigue and sneak penalty, shorter characters have a slight carry weight penalty with a little more stamina and a lower chance of getting hit. These stat tweaks are very slight however, and won't have much impact on any seasoned PC character.

A slight natural disadvantage is nothing training and leveling your character can't solve. Unless you go full on giant or homonuclus the stat effect is barely even notice

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Tiny mod that does exactly what it says—eight height choices for your character.
  • Compatibility with everything means you can slot it into any load order without worry.
  • The minor stat tweak adds a bit of roleplay depth without breaking balance.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 30 endorsements, so it's a niche pick—don't expect widespread community testing.
  • No screenshots or detailed instructions in the description, so you're flying blind on how it looks in-game.
  • Last updated in August 2025, so it's fresh, but the stat change might not be to everyone's taste if you're a min-maxer.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Morrowind players who want to tweak their character's height for roleplay or visual variety without overhauling the game. Skip if you're looking for major gameplay changes—this is a small, focused addition.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a Morrowind mod, make sure you have the Morrowind Code Patch or OpenMW for best compatibility, though the mod claims to work with everything.
  • Back up your save before installing, just in case the stat alteration affects your current character unexpectedly.
  • Try the different heights in a test save to see which one feels right for your playstyle.
