📋 About This Mod
Description
I used ESRGAN AI to upscale the menubook textures used for the journal and books, the scroll texture used for notes/letters, and plain paper by 8x.
This is my first Morrowind mod. Hope you all like it. I saw one other like it, but it was old and the installation was confusing for new modders.
Highly recommended - TrueType fonts for OpenMW + optional hd texture buttons (OpenMW required for the font, not for texture buttons.)

How to install
Paste the textures folder into your Morrowind Data Files folder.
OR
If you use OpenMW you can open the openmw.cfg file (in Documents/My Games/OpenMW) and add the folder that contains the mod's assets to the data list in the cfg file. The folder you point the openmw.cfg file to must contain the data files (textures, etc) for the mod.
If you need help here's an example picture (Note, I changed the name of the mod folder after this picture). The cfg file must be saved and closed before you open OpenMW or it won't register the changes.
OR
You can use a mod manager.
This mod upscales the menubook, scroll, and plain paper textures in Skyrim using ESRGAN AI by 8x, enhancing visual clarity for journals, books, notes, and letters. It's a simple texture improvement for players who want sharper UI elements without changing gameplay.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Sharpens up those blurry journal and note textures—nice for immersion.
- Simple drop-in texture replacer, no gameplay changes.
- Small but dedicated following (40 endorsements) suggests it works as advertised.
⚠️ Cons
- Only 40 endorsements—might be overlooked, but that's not a quality indicator.
- Last updated in 2022—could be outdated if you're on a newer Skyrim version.
- No screenshots or detailed install instructions in the description, so you're on your own.
For Skyrim players who hate the blurry default journal and note textures and want a quick visual upgrade. Skip if you're looking for gameplay overhauls—this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager—no load order worries.
- If you use other texture mods, install this one after them to ensure it overwrites the relevant files.
- Check the mod's forum posts for any user screenshots to see the effect before installing.
