📋 About This Mod
Loading Screen Art v3. 1
Aug 08, 2018
This is a collection of loading screens made from Morrowind art I found on DeviantArt. The main goal is to show images in various styles and of various scenes/people/landscapes, so that the waiting times become more interesting.
The art is about Morrowind, but it can be conceptart for Skywind as well, or Tamriel Rebuilt, or Elder Scrolls Online, or a depiction of the red year. I didn't pay too much attention. There's also a lot of dunmer, including some OC/own characters, but I thought they fit Morrowind so I've included them.
The images here on nexusmods show previews of the screenshots, but these previews are of lower resolution than the screenshots themselves. I made these previews like this because otherwise it would be of a large data size.
The loading screens are made for a 1280x720 resolution, and for 1600x900. For other resolutions, the images may be stretched or squeezed. You may still try them though, I don't see how it could break your game. For landscapes it may not matter a lot when they're stretched or squeezed. And it's easy to delete them if it doesn't look good.
IF SOME LOADING SCREENS ARE NOT TO YOUR LIKING
Previews of all loading screens can be found in the folder Splash previews. Use these JPG previews to find loading screens you don't like, so you can remove the matching TGA files from the Splash folder. The TGA file and the JPG file have the same name, but different file extension.
Make sure you rerun Archive Invalidation or BSA redirection in Morrowind Mod Manager or Wrye Mash.
CHANGES I'VE MADE TO THE IMAGES
Some source images had a (black/white/grey) border, which I have removed. Others had weird pixels in the outer lines/rows, so I've cropped them a little bit as well.
Some images have signatures/websites/logos/dates that were too distracting, so I've cropped those images as well.
If something looks weird you can still take a look at the source image to see what it is supposed to look like. All sources are mentioned below.
INSTALLATION
1. Optional: delete (or move) other loading screens, by removing them from the Data Files/Splash folder.
2. Unpack this archive into Data Files in your Morrowind install, so that all the TGA and JPG files end up in Data Files/Splash.
3. Optional: remove the loading screens you don't want. The previews show which filename has what image.
4. Use Archive Invalidation or BSA Redirection. Wrye Mash or Morrowind Mod Manager can do this, but maybe other software can as
This mod replaces Morrowind's loading screens with a collection of over 100 pieces of fan art sourced from DeviantArt. It's a simple cosmetic enhancement for players who want more visual variety during load times. With 101 endorsements and last updated in 2018, it remains a niche but appreciated addition.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Plenty of variety with 100+ screens, so you won't see the same art every time.
- Lightweight and easy to install—just drop files in place.
- Community-approved with 101 endorsements, showing it's a solid pick for UI tweaks.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018, so it might not be compatible with the latest Morrowind patches or mod setups.
- Art quality varies since it's pulled from DeviantArt—some pieces may not match the game's aesthetic.
- No previews or screenshots provided, so you're gambling on the art style until you try it.
For Morrowind players who want to spice up their loading screens with fan art and don't mind a bit of inconsistency. Skip if you prefer a cohesive, lore-friendly look or if you're running a heavily modded setup that might conflict.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this is a simple replacer, just extract the files into your Morrowind Data Files folder—no mod manager needed.
- If you're using a mod manager like Wrye Mash or MO2, you can still install it manually and it should work fine.
- Check the file dates to ensure compatibility with your game version; if you're on a newer patch, test it early.
