📋 About This Mod
This replaces the night sky meshes from Morrowind.bsa and Bloodmoon.bsa with improved versions. The UVs have been redone to preserve the shape and relative size of all triangles in the star dome, ensuring that the stars in every part of the sky are equally bright. This fixes the problem of dark spots appearing in the night sky when playing with high FOV values, as well as the Warrior constellation being backwards. Star and nebula textures have been set to blend additively, preventing some visual oddities at dawn/dusk and improving their appearance in general.
An optional module is also included, containing a modified version of the warrior constellation texture. Its alpha channel has been edited so the constellation appears about as bright as the other two in the sky.
This is compatible with vanilla Morrowind and OpenMW. Installing this is unnecessary if you're using another night sky mesh replacer, but anything that just replaces the star/constellation/nebula textures will probably look fine with this.
NOTICE: If you're downloading Morrowind Optimization Patch from Github, the mesh fixes from this mod are already included. If you want the modified constellation texture, though, you'll still need to download it here. This mod will be made texture-only once the next version of MOP actually releases on Nexus.
A small Morrowind mod that replaces the night sky meshes to fix their poor UV mapping, improving texture alignment. With 42 endorsements and 525 downloads, it's a niche fix for players bothered by stretched or misaligned stars. Last updated December 2024.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Directly addresses a common visual flaw—stretched or misaligned stars—that many players notice.
- Simple replacer mod, easy to install and remove without affecting other aspects of the game.
- Recently updated (December 2024), so it's likely compatible with current Morrowind setups.
⚠️ Cons
- Very niche—only affects night sky visuals, so if you don't mind the original stars, this won't change much.
- Low endorsement count (42) means it's not widely tested or community-vetted.
- No screenshots or detailed description provided, so you can't preview the exact visual improvement before installing.
For Morrowind players who notice the stretched or blurry stars in the night sky and want a quick fix. If you're a purist who wants the original look, or you rarely look up at the sky, you can skip this.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a mesh replacer, just drop the files into your Morrowind Data Files folder, overwriting when prompted.
- If you use a mod manager like Wrye Mash or Mod Organizer 2, install it through that to keep your load order clean.
- Make sure you have the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions installed if the mod requires them—check the file structure to be safe.
