📋 About This Mod
I thought Morrowind lacked outdoor combat, and the dungeons often had no guards or presence outside them, so I created this mod to add security to nearly all of them.
The aim of this mod is to:
-
[]Make the outside world more dangerous.
[
]Make artifacts and other significant loot feel more difficult to obtain.[]Increase the amount of outdoor combat.
[]Make the wilderness feel a bit more alive with NPCs.
The number of added enemies outside dungeons in Cyrodiil is 2, 3, or 4, with almost all dungeons having two.
The types of enemies outside a dungeon do in general reflect those inside but there are exceptions. I did not account for the number of enemies already outside dungeons.
The 50 new NPCs carry light sources and have lore-friendly names, avoiding immersion-breaking names like 'Bob' or 'Bandit.' This mod does not add any quests, but some of the NPCs do have unique dialogue.
Dungeons have been skipped due to quests or their close proximity to towns. Some dungeons have been quest adjusted.
Contrary to the Vvardenfell/Solstheim version I did not skip grottos in this mod and of course other underwater locations are included. And again running headfirst into a dungeon might leave you trapped. Be prepared, or risk turning it into your own tomb.
If a dungeon has multiple entrances, they usually all have the designated number of enemies, though this may vary in clustered locations.
Compatibility
This mod does not modify any existing enemies.
Detailed spoilers:
The default number of added enemies is 2, at least in the initial release area of Project Cyrodiil. I’ve only added 4 in some where I think there's something good. One with 3.
some NPCs have a health potion(imitate inside of dungeon, prio casters, higher security areas) and 6 NPCs have a 15% chance lvl hptn
Ayleid Ruins: Bandits or wildlife.
Bandit dens: Bandits.
Barrows: Skeletons.
Crypts: Mostly Bandits. Many skipped because of town proximity.
Dreugh Hives: Additional Dreugh and Slaughterfish.
Dwemer ruin(s): Leveled Dwemer and at high level there's a nastier suprise of them
Ruins: Depends of what's inside
Goblin caves: Goblins/war muskrat.
Grottos: Mostly non respawnable fish/lamia
Shipwrecks: Mostly respawnable fish
Quest Adjusted Dungeons: Atrene, Blackfish Cave, Salinen, Eumaeus
Skipped Dungeons: Kar Toronr Barrow, Benirus Crypt, Brina Cross Crypts, Conomorus Crypt, Hadrach Crypt, Thimistrel Crypt, Telvor Crypt, Ivrol Crypt, Lacorius Crypt, Pale Bay Cave, Thesigir Chasm, Broken Shrine Grotto, Norinia, Vallanytha Grotto, Nefa, Mischarstette, Duskwatch keep
This mod adds hand-placed leveled creatures, creatures, and NPCs outside nearly all dungeon entrances in Project Cyrodiil, including 50 new NPCs. It's a small but active mod (24 endorsements, 3,524 downloads) that enhances the world by populating dungeon approaches with encounters.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fresh encounters at dungeon doors—no more empty approaches.
- 50 new NPCs add variety and life to the world.
- Hand-placed spawns feel intentional, not random.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Project Cyrodiil, so it's useless without that mod.
- Only 24 endorsements—small community, might be under-tested.
For Project Cyrodiil players who want more action and immersion before entering dungeons. If you're tired of quiet entrances and want to fight your way in, this is for you. Skip if you don't use Project Cyrodiil or prefer minimal changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
