📋 About This Mod
While the sunrays that appear near many of Glow in the Dahrk's interior windows during the day are pleasant to look at, the fact that they shine regardless of where the sun actually is in the exterior worldspace can lead to unrealistic behavior. This is especially obvious in open interiors that have windows on all sides, as sunrays will shine through all of the windows throughout the entire day.
As the name implies, Directional Sunrays adjusts the visibility of Glow in the Dahrk's sunrays depending on where the sun is relative to the window. The angles from the sun at which sunrays shine at full intensity and do not shine at all can be adjusted as desired in the MCM.
Notes for modders/users who notice strange sunray behavior:
Directional Sunrays depends on:
-
[]Each group of sunrays having a nonzero rotation assigned to its NiTriShape node or the parents thereof.
[
]If no such rotation is specified in the mesh, then Directional Sunrays will automatically use a method for calculating the direction that the rays should be coming from that is more reliable but also more expensive, which could potentially lead to a performance loss on a weak PC or in a cell with many such windows.[]Sunrays being horizontal if the nodes (theoretically) did not have any rotation.
- [
[]Each group of sunrays being a separate NiTriShape in a window's . NIF file.
- []If this is not the case, then the sunrays will behave incorrectly even when the window is added to the list of nonstandard windows and it should instead be added to the blacklist in the MCM.
A small immersion mod that tweaks Glow in the Dahrk's interior sunrays to match the sun's position, adding realism to dungeon lighting. With 56 endorsements and recent updates, it's a niche but polished addition for players who already use Glow in the Dahrk.
