📋 About This Mod
Marks the unowned containers (barrels, sacks, urns, crates, and chests) in the exterior areas of cities, towns, forts, farms, plantations, and Ashlander camps as owned. Some of the previously unowned containers in interior cells are covered, as well. The majority of these containers are tagged as owned by the faction in control of the area with the exception of farms and plantations, in which case the NPC that is in charge of the area is listed as the owner.
Cleaned with Tes3cmd. Would recommend not installing mid-game.
And...
If you're looking for a mod which not only adds ownership to containers but many, many other things, I would highly recommend using Necrolesian's Ownership Overhaul instead.
Container Ownership marks unowned containers in exterior areas of cities, towns, forts, farms, plantations, and Ashlander camps as owned, with some interior containers also affected. A small immersion mod with 29 endorsements, last updated in 2019, aimed at players who want more realistic theft consequences.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Adds a layer of realism for immersion-focused players who want theft to have consequences.
- Simple concept that fits neatly into the Immersion category without overhauling gameplay.
- Lightweight mod with 438 downloads — enough to show a niche audience appreciates it.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2019 — may be incompatible with current game versions or require patches.
- Only 29 endorsements, so it's a niche mod with limited community validation.
- Description is incomplete (cuts off mid-sentence), leaving uncertainty about full scope.
For Morrowind players who enjoy role-playing as a law-abiding citizen or want to avoid accidental theft. Also for those who find it immersion-breaking that containers in public areas are free to loot. Skip if you prefer gameplay changes or don't care about ownership mechanics.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod changes ownership, be careful when looting in cities — you might get a bounty you didn't expect.
- Check if the mod requires Tribunal or Bloodmoon expansions, as it mentions Ashlander camps which are in the base game but some areas may be from expansions.
- If you use a mod manager, install manually by dropping the files into your Data Files folder and enable the .esp in the launcher.
