📋 About This Mod
Description ========== Adds consignment chests to several traders in Vvardenfell that allows them to save over time in order to buy more expensive items from the player.
Location ======== Chests can be found in the shops of Malpenix Blonia in Ald-ruhn, Verick Gemain in Caldera, Clagius Clanler in Balmora, Jeanne in Vivec Foreign Quarter, and next to Ancola in Sadrith Mora.
Details ======= Items can be placed in the consignment chests, at which point the particular trader will begin to save the required gold to buy the item. For each full day that the player does not visit the trader, the trader will save their daily supply of gold. Once the trader is able to afford the item in the chest, the item will be removed and replaced with the gold. The price offered is based on the player's Mercantile skill, and is generally a bit lower than if you bartered directly.
Consignment Chests Expanded should support all in-game items, as well as any mod-added items, which is a marked improvement over the original Consignment Chests mod.
Consignment Chests Expanded adds consignment chests to several traders in Vvardenfell, allowing them to save money over time to purchase more expensive items from the player. A small quality-of-life mod for Morrowind players who want to sell high-value loot without breaking immersion.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves the classic Morrowind problem of traders not having enough gold for expensive loot.
- Small and focused – does one thing and does it well.
- Lightweight mod with 26 endorsements and 508 downloads, indicating a niche but appreciated utility.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018 – may have compatibility issues with newer Morrowind mods or engine patches.
- Only affects several traders, not all – you'll still need to travel to find the right ones.
- No documentation on which traders are included or how the saving mechanic works, so expect some trial and error.
For Morrowind players who hate selling a Daedric artifact for a fraction of its value because the merchant is broke. If you're a completionist or a merchant-focused character, this mod adds a bit of realism. Skip if you prefer economy overhauls that rebalance gold across the board.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod is from 2018, make sure to use a mod manager like Wrye Mash or Mod Organizer 2 to avoid overwriting other mods.
- Check the mod's comments or forum threads for user reports on which traders are affected – the description doesn't list them.
- If you use OpenMW, test the mod early in your playthrough to ensure it works with your setup.
