📋 About This Mod

Description:

Cell Bouncer is a mod and a modders resource for OpenMW that supports loading yaml blocklists which define exterior cells that the player is restricted from entering. This can be used to define a world border, prevent access to pre-release areas of a mod, prevent access to individual cells by name, etc.

Blocklists can also be configured to enable and disable themselves automatically based on journal entry and quest stage.

Important: See optional files for several premade blocklists, including world borders and quest enhancements. Cell Bouncer will not do anything unless at least one blocklist is present for it to load.

Features & Functionality:

  • []Blocklists are restricted to exterior cells.[/]

[]Blocklists can be defined as a range , and/or by cell name.[/]

[]Allow lists are supported, which can be used to override blocklist ranges.[/]

[]Allow lists are defined as a range .[/]

[]Allow lists are global, and will override the blocklists of all other loaded files.[/]

[]Allow lists will not override cells that have been explicitly blocked by name.[/]

[]Blocklists can optionally define an on-screen message to display when the player encounters a blocked cell.[/]

[]Blocklists can optionally define a sound file to play when the player encounters a blocked cell from that list.[/]

[]Blocklists can define a mode (wall, flip, teleport, kill, ground) to use when the player encounters a blocked cell from that list.[/]

[]Blocklists can have an explicit priority set to determine which list takes precedence.[/]

[]If no priority is set, or two blocklists have the same priority, then alphabetical load order is used.[/]

[]A settings toggle allows the mod to be disabled in-game if needed.[/]

Big update! New in v0. 9(a):

[]The default blocklist is now a separate download. This was done to allow Cell Bouncer to be used as a dependency by other mods without automatically bundling a world border.[/]

[]Blocklists can now be automatically enabled or disabled based on active quest and stage.[/]

[]Quest blocklists always take precedence over traditional static blocklists. e.g. Blocked cells from quest blocklists will override allowed cells from static blocklists. This allows quest blocklists to work even if there's an existing static blocklist (such as a world border) covering the same area.[/]

[]Cells can now be explicitly allowed by name.[/]

[]Multiple boundary messages can now be defined. Messages are shuffled and displayed in random order.[/]

[]Multiple boundary sounds can now be defined. Sounds are shuffled and displayed in random order.[/]

[*]Boundary sound/message pairs can be defined. The message on a pair will override the basic bo

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind engine — this mod won't work there.
  • Check the mod's forum or comments on the Nexus page for user-created blocklists to get started.
  • Test with a single blocklisted cell first to understand the syntax before building a full world border.
