📋 About This Mod
PLUGINS
Dialogue: Edits some generic dialogue to flow better and more naturally, with less rambling monotony for spell topics and more detail for creature topics. Ongoing project.
Interface & Commentary: Rewritten descriptions for skills and magic, tweaked descriptions for race and class, redone message prompts as first-person character commentary, and small tweaks like changing Fatigue to Stamina, Reputation to Fame, and Admire to Fraternize.
Interface & Commentary - OpenMW Patch: Removes the bugged %PCName command from a GMST barter message. Instead of "Thank you, %PCName. Please come again," it now reads "Thank you for your business. Please come again." Load after the above Interface & Commentary plugin.
Magic & Skill Names: Renamed some skills and magic effects for personal preference.
Symptom-Based Sickness: Replaces all contracted disease names (except Corprus and werewolf hunger) with actual symptoms, and no distinction between disease types. I recommend using it alongside Gavrilo93's No More Dr. Nerevarine (with my mod loading last).
*Object Names: Coming soon/eventually.
A list of all changes is included in the file's text documents.
Persuasion Rationale
Admire = Fraternize
Because I always found it completely nonsensical how positive human interaction is boiled down to simply showering the recipient with compliments. Making smalltalk and getting to know someone as a person is how you make friends.
Intimidate = Unchanged, aside from a prefixed space for CS sorting.
Taunt = Ridicule
Mostly to elongate the wording to match Intimidate and Fraternize. Also, ridicule has a more subtle and subversive implication compared to the louder and more obvious act of taunting. If you want to truly hurt someone, you have to put on a friendly face and lower their defenses.
Admire Fail/Success = Banter Rebuked/Appreciated
Intimidate Fail/Success = Threat Ignored/Heeded
Taunt Fail/Success = Insult Ignored/Taken
Less boring and copy-pasted terminology.
Skill Name Rationale
"Your skill in Blocking" sounds better than "Your skill in Block." Same idea for the others, and I simply dislike verbs as skill titles.
Hand-to-hand = Hand-To-Hand
Proper capitalization of a hyphenated title.
Bob's TexTweaks is an immersion mod that overhauls skill and magic effect descriptions, adds first-person character commentary to message prompts, and introduces symptom-based disease status. It is modular, allowing players to pick and choose components. With 34 endorsements and last updated in 2019, it's a niche mod for players seeking deeper roleplay.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Adds a fresh layer of roleplay to skill descriptions and messages, making the game feel more personal.
- Modular setup means you can tailor it to your taste without bloating your load order.
- Small but dedicated following (34 endorsements) suggests it does its job well for those who want it.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2019 — may be out of date with current game patches, so check compatibility.
- Low endorsement count (34) means it's not widely tested; you might hit bugs.
For roleplayers who want their character's inner voice to shine through in menus and status effects. If you're tired of dry, generic descriptions and want a more immersive experience, this is for you. Skip if you prefer vanilla text or want gameplay changes — this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's modular, start with just the skill description overhaul to see if you like the tone before adding more.
- Check the mod's forum or comments for any compatibility notes with other UI or immersion mods you use.
- If you're using a mod manager, install the modules in the order you want them to override other text mods.
