This quests is about you getting saved by a Nord and then taken to his cabin and after you can help him hunt down the same animal that attacked you. This quest will begin when your in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you want to start the quest right away just look at the game guide. It will add a new house in Skaal Village and two new characters. And if you kill a character that is part of the quest they will respond and quest objects do not appear until the quest begins just like in Oblivion.
