📋 About This Mod
Description
This is an early OpenMW implementation of MWSE AURA by tewlwolow. The original sound files are contained here in this mod, as well as many of the features that AURA sought to implement.
AURA dramatically enriches the games ambient sound-scape by adding additional sounds cued to play for biomes, settlements, dungeons, ruins, player status, containers, and more. This mod does not alter any of the vanilla game sounds, but there is an OPTIONAL Replacer sounds folder that will replace over 400 vanilla sounds with higher quality versions, you may find the list of files here.
For polling tweaks, use "AURA OpenMW\scripts\aura_openmw\core\tuning.lua"
I am actively working on this, please report bugs/issues and I will do my best to address everything as I can.

Limitations
Presently there is no OpenMW API for adjusting the volume of a currently playing sound file. As such, sounds may sometimes feel as though they start and stop suddenly. For now, there is no best way for me to avoid this. In 0. 9. 0, I tackled this issue by "fading out" the current track by restarting it at lower volumes. In 0. 9. 1, I removed this because I felt it was too distracting/obvious in most situations. However, I can reimplement that featur

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Ports a well-known sound overhaul to OpenMW, filling a gap for OpenMW users
- Decent community traction with 59 endorsements and over 2,000 downloads
- Improves audio immersion without requiring MWSE, making it accessible to OpenMW players
⚠️ Cons
- Relatively low endorsement count (59) suggests it's still a niche mod

For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want richer, more dynamic soundscapes without switching to MWSE. If you're a purist who prefers vanilla audio, this isn't for you. Skip if you're on the original Morrowind engine – this is OpenMW only.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind executable – this mod won't work on the latter.
- Place the mod's files in your OpenMW data directory or use a mod manager like OpenMW's built-in mod list.
- If you notice audio issues, check that the mod is loaded after other sound mods in your load order.
