📋 About This Mod
OpenMW Only!
As a Necessities of Morrowind user, when traveling through the Mainland or Skyrim, I've occasionally faced difficulty finding water, as the city wells are not compatible with NOM, and you can only collect water from certain waterfalls. This mod adds a simple script that allows you to request a refill of the waterskins added by the Necessities of Morrowind mod from any tavern publican for a small fee via dialogue.
This mod is compatible with all publicans in Vvardenfell, Tamriel Rebuilt, and Skyrim Home of the Nords.
I haven't requested permission from Taddeus, the author of NOM, to create this mod, as I'm unsure if he is still active in the community and, if so, how to contact him. If Taddeus ever requests the removal of this mod, I will take it down from this platform. Nevertheless, my mod doesn't modify any elements of the original mod nor replaces it; it simply adds a script to refill the waterskins if the PC is carrying one that isn't completely full, so everything should be okay.
Because apparently, after getting used to modding with the Content Editor only for OpenMW, I'm a completely dysfunctional person when it comes to modding with the Construction Set. Five or six years ago, I knew how to use the Construction Set relatively, but it seems I've completely forgotten how it works. Every time I think I know why my mods don't work in the Vanilla Engine and fix what I see is wrong, a new error appears that I don't know how to fix. And I get tired of wasting time trying to resolve errors instead of modding and playing. It's all my fault, as everyone mods with the Construction Set, but I only have a few free hours a week for modding, and I like to make the most of them. Feel free to port my mods to Vanilla/OpenMW engine if you want :)
This OpenMW-only addon for Necessities of Morrowind lets you pay tavern publicans to refill your waterskins, saving you from hunting down water sources. It's a small, niche convenience mod with 11 endorsements and 369 downloads, last updated in November 2023.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny quality-of-life improvement for survival-focused playthroughs—no more trekking to a river just to drink.
- Works with Tamriel Rebuilt, so it's useful for explorers venturing into new lands.
- Lightweight script mod; won't bloat your load order or cause performance hits.
⚠️ Cons
- Only 11 endorsements—this is a niche addon for a niche mod, so community testing is limited.
- OpenMW only, so if you're on the original Morrowind engine, you're out of luck.
- Last updated in 2023—might not be compatible with future Necessities of Morrowind updates, though it's likely stable.
For Morrowind players who use Necessities of Morrowind and find water management tedious. If you're on OpenMW and want a convenient way to refill waterskins without breaking immersion, this is a must-have. Skip if you don't use Necessities or play on the original engine.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have OpenMW installed and are not using the original Morrowind executable—this mod won't work otherwise.
- Install Necessities of Morrowind first, then drop this addon's files into your OpenMW data directory and enable it in the launcher.
- Test the script at a tavern in Seyda Neen early to confirm it works before relying on it in the wilderness.
