📋 About This Mod
Aesliip's Ring is a cool little artifact you pick up as you go through the Bloodmoon Skaal quest line. In theory, it's a great ring for mages to use, but unfortunately due to how its enchantment works, actually using it on a regular basis becomes quite a hassle thanks to the 75 point "fortify magicka" effect it has.
Fortify magicka constant effects in Morrowind suck. The effect only increases your current magicka without increasing your magicka pool. This causes several problems. Using up the extra magicka will cause the game to stop registering the bonus, so if you restore your magicka afterwards it'll only go back up to your max. Because you still have the "fortify magicka" effect active, unequipping whatever it was that gave you the effect will cause your magicka to drop by that amount.
So for example, let's say you have 100 magicka, you equip Aesliip's Ring to boost it to 175, you cast some spells until you're down to 0; after you rest it'll only go back up to 100, and then if you unequip the ring it'll suddenly drop down to 25. If you unequip the ring while at less than 75 magicka, it'll actually go into the negatives and take much longer to recover.
This mod replaces that effect with a nice and simple "Fortify Maximum Magicka" effect; this is the same effect found with the Atronach, Mage, and Apprentice birthsign, as well as on Breton and Altmer characters. The effect works by multiplying your intelligence by a certain number (in this mod's case, 0. 5) and then adding that number to your magicka pool (so at 100 intelligence, you will now end up with 150 magicka with the ring equipped). Generally speaking, it's a slight downgrade to how much magicka the ring provided originally, but it can be significantly higher if you utilize fortify intelligence effects and it comes with the benefit of not having to constantly unequip and re-equip the damn thing every time you rest up after casting spells.
