📋 About This Mod
Maybe thousands of DLC checks per second was too many?
As of the version 1. 040. 03. 01 update on January 28th, 2026, this mod is now obsolete
It technically still functions, but the per-frame DLC checks are gone, so there's no longer any reason to use it
The original description of this mod is no longer accurate, but is available below for posterity:
This REFramework mod limits how often the game can check for newly-purchased DLCs to once per second (instead of once every single frame), improving performance... under specific circumstances (see below). It adds a section to REFramework's "Script Generated UI" pane that allows you to toggle the mod and see whether it's actually skipping checks, so you can see the performance difference in real-time.
As discovered by de_Tylmarande, who documented it in a Reddit thread, depending on which DLCs you own, Monster Hunter Wilds may perform dozens of checks for DLC ownership every frame. This can easily add up to thousands of (relatively) computationally-expensive checks every second, significantly reducing your framerate if it's bottlenecked by your CPU.
Unfortunately, it looks like this only happens when you're close enough to a Support Desk felyne (the ones that handle bounties and have a DLC menu) to see an exclamation point on its map/world icon, which pops up if DLC is purchased or is newly available, so you know to go and redeem and/or look at the new DLC. So it only matters while you're standing in/near a Base Camp and the Support Desk doesn't already have a DLC notification. Not quite as game-changing as some were hoping, but better than nothing.
Note that this mod does not (un)lock any (un)owned DLC, and cannot be modified to do so. The function it skips is only used to check whether new DLCs were recently purchased for notification purposes.
Installation
- Don't. It is now obsolete.
