📋 About This Mod

This is a native C++ patch on `isAvailableDLC()` and `isNewBenefit()` to cache the results and improve performance. Alleviates hundreds of DLC checks per frame.

Fixed as of v1. 040. 03. 01.

"Fixed an issue where system load could increase around the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub due to claimed content status checks."

This will not be updated anymore and doesn't scan/correctly on 1. 040. 03. 01 anyways.

The image is stolen from the 'malicious' mods that get thrown up every now and then, but this is a very real thing, and the source is available if you wanna build it yourself.

THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO ACT AS A DLC UNLOCKER!

If you know how to do that, fine. Just don't bring it up in the comments; I WILL be hiding/reporting comments that do so.

This is released in good faith to help with performance issues, not piracy.

This is a very simple REFramework plugin that:

  • []Hooks `app.dlc. DlcService::isAvailableDLC(app.dlc. DlcProductId. ID)` and caches the results. This means any actual checks for DLC don't constantly hit Steam API many times per frame, but rather just send the cached result. It still gets called just as much, this just reduces the Steam API side of things. This should, in theory, be global, and not just at the Support Desk.

[]Hooks `app. GUIManager::isNewBenefit()` to always return false, which is basically the Suport Desk Cat's exclamation point checking for new DLC. This also saves a lot of overhead.

The short version is, when you're near the Support Desk, the game checks to see if you have new DLC individually for each item you don't own, and that results in individual calls to Steam API for entitlement checks for each individual piece of DLC.

    Yes, that's per frame.

Literally hundreds of calls per frame to the Steam API to see if you now own DLC you didn't last frame.

This tackles both sides of the issue, caching the Steam API call so it doesn't need to be made all the time, and makes the checks the cat does return fast as 'false' to avoid some more expensive calls in the first place.

I believe the DLC API calls are made beyond just at the Support Desk. I'm pretty sure it happens for the HD texture pack loading things too.

Some say the FPS drop is only when you're near the Support Desk, YMMV. (I've seen some get +20FPS in some cases.)

This will effectively only really do anything for you if you're CPU limited, not GPU limited. How much of a boost you get is way too subjective to say.

I do not know all of the depth of how much of an impact this will have, you'll need to test yourself and find out.

Supposedly, the range in which this helps is within 50 meters of the Support Desk. I've had others claim they get better performance all around, even out in the field.

This was made in response to a Reddit post that investigated how this can affect performance.

They are currently not publishing the technical
