# Torment *Torment is a mod made for SpookyJam 2021* Lately more and more people have been losing their mind. It seems like these stories that have been handed down for ages now are true. Maybe you can use them if you are careful. Luckily you have found an ancient book that explains everything known to that phenomenon. Although it is not much, you think it is enough to get a rough impression. To start off there seem to be some mysterious dark rituals that can be performed at the cost of your mental health. Each ritual seems to colour some of your hearts purple. You have only 10 hearts to colour, so you should be careful which rituals you perform. On a little note in the book it says "Nobody has found a way to undo these rituals, even after years". On the next pages, you can find some of the dark rituals. The **ritual of the angered lightning** can be triggered by building the shown structure and eating a spider eye near it. At a cost of 3 hearts. It is told that people who attack you will be struck by lightning occasionally. A player is sometimes redeemed with a block of a resource instead of one item when mining the ore. That sounds useful to you. But 2 whole hearts for this. And this is permanent? You are still not sure. But there's one last ritual in the book. Before you take a look at the next page, you notice the required structure. And also the most expensive. For 6 and a half hearts you can force your will on other mobs by pressing a key (defaults to `V`). It is told that having 5 red hearts left is enough to stop most effects. So either you do only few rituals or try to stay at full health all the time. Going below the five red hearts will make you hear stuff that is not there. Later you'll see some misplaced blocks in the world. It is told that people have been screaming about cows and pigs. Seems like they saw them as creepers and zombies. Others were tortured by the fact that they thought everything was watching them. There is also a phenomenon called a ghostie which is told to be a little ghost only visible for the one player that follows him wherever he goes. There is no way to get rid of it. Then the book ends with the words *So be careful. You never know.* After flipping the final page, the book went up in flames, so you could not read it again. But you think you know enough to make a decision. What will your decision be?
