📋 About This Mod
This mod adds the ability for players to choose a starting class the first time they join a world, allowing them to choose from a selection of equipment loadouts, to give you a headstart or objective on their playthrough. These loadouts vary from combat focused like Knight and Dreadnought, to exploration focused like Trader and Pioneer, to even allowing you to start with a tamed mob like Ranger or Outrider. This mod is intended to be highly data-driven, allowing for modpack and datapack makers to add their own classes or modify existing ones. See the (https://github.com/TrashElemental/starting_classes/wiki) for more details and a template.
An in-game command, 'starting\_classes\_open\_menu (player)' exists to allow manual (re)opening of the class menu. Three additional commands exist allowing operators to enable or disable specific classes, '/starting_classes_enable/disable_class "(class id)", and to clear the blacklist of disabled classes.
Some classes offer choices between a selection of items. allowing for minor variety among players who choose the same class.
By itself, this mod adds twelve classes. - Wanderer - The 'no class' option. - Alchemist - A traveling chemist in search of fresh reagents, starting with some potions and ingredients. - Dreadnought - An unmovable warrior with defensive gear and a sturdy shield. - Engineer - An adept tinkerer ready to automate their life. - Knight - A balanced warrior ready to take on an adventure with a variety of gear. - Mariner - A seafarer with the tools to dive deep and live beneath the waves. - Outrider - A lightly armored horseman traveling quickly with their trusty steed. - Pioneer - A settler traveling with their loyal donkey and some crops to set up a comforting homestead. - Ranger - A woodsman who hunts with their bow, alongside their treasured wolf companion. - Scholar - A novice enchanter who starts with their own personal enchanting setup. - Trader - A wandering trader with their llama, in search of fortunes.
