# Retromod **Run mods built for older Minecraft versions on current ones.** Most compatibility layers move a mod between *loaders*. Retromod moves a mod between *game versions*. A mod built for 1.20.1 can run on a current release without waiting for the author to port it. ## How it works Drop Retromod in, put the old mod in retromod-input and launch. Retromod rewrites the mod's bytecode, remaps its names, repairs its mixins, and patches its loader metadata, then moves it into mods Works on **Fabric**, **NeoForge**, **Quilt**, and **Forge**. ## Will my mod work?
