The origin starts as a hatchling, stranded in the Overworld. With low health, weakened attack power, hydrophobia, half a block tall, a weakness to smite, and hunger loss, it is truly a race to The Nether.

You then have the choice of walking the path of devils or demons.

Those who chose demons walk a path of bloodshed. Starting with debuffs such as double exhaustion, carnivore, hydrophobia, a weakness to smite, slowed movements, and only a slight attack and armor buff, the player will be greatly rewarded for trudging onwards to their first kill (villagers) and unlocking their abilities.

Starting from the second evolution, the player gains the ability to gain hunger from attacks and gets more and more attack damage, armor, and movement speed with each evolution. From the third evolution, the player unlocks a rage ability that consumes some of the collected souls for a buff effect that gets stronger the more they evolve.

On the alternative devil pathway, charisma is key for this contract-centered route. This origin allows you to create demonic contracts with other players, granting them powers in exchange for their souls. Be careful, though, because if negotiations go south, devils aren't personally equipped for combat. With a permanent armor value of 0 as well as numerous other debuffs to start, devils are some of the weakest of the bunch when fighting alone.

Devils grow greatly in power the more deals they make. Gaining health and magic resistance for each soul under their command. They also have many escape routes and fighting strategies once they've amassed their legion of contractees. With the ability to teleport to and summon contracted souls, devils are natural leaders, fighting from the backlines.

Some souls may be a harder bargain than others, though, and that's where the tier and authority systems come into play. The higher the rank of the devil, the more contracts they have access to. Each devil is allotted a certain amount of authority to spend the way they see fit, with higher-ranking contracts costing more. Spend too much, though, and you may not have enough left to rank up.

All routes have a nice set of extra bonuses here and there to enjoy as well, such as night vision for the higher-ranking infernal entities, fire and temperature (thermoo) resistance for all, and a litany of other powers waiting to be unlocked. A territorial ghost that remains in the spirit realm till it decides to hunt its prey.

Pros - Aggression: Gains access to the aggression stat, which allows an entity to enter into hunting mode, gaining buffs. Gains stacks of aggression in the dark and when hitting living entities.

Mixed - Undead: You're an undead - Flicker: Flash in and out of existence

Con - Hunt: When not hunting, receive weakness 4

Abilities - Teleport to a point within 10 blocks (Doesn't work during hunt) - Able to go into a 'hunt' mode that disables invisibility, grants strength 3 and resistance 2. Increases speed proportional to distance to non-undead (line of sight). Can extend the duration of the hunt through killing living entities.
