Giants of the Cretaceous

The modification adds dinosaurs to minecraft. However, they are not bloodthirsty monsters or fossils that you need to revive. Predators attack their prey only when they are hungry, herbivores fight back, dinosaur nests and bones can be found all over the world. Each creature has unique custom model, texture and animations. Moreover, there is plenty of equipment, and some weapons have their custom models.

For now, the mod has no in-game documentation, so let me introduce some key features and mechanics. Also I recommend to install JEI, since there are lot of recipes, and some of them are not that obvious :)

## Dinosaurs

You can meet them always everywhere. For now, there are 11 species (not all of them are dinosaurus, however). Some of them are herbivores, which means they won't attack anyone until someone attacks them. Others are carnivores. Each minute a carnivore creature becomes hungry and kills one prey. After that, the creature's hunger is satisfied for a minute, and it becomes neutral.

Moreover, most of the creatures has unique abilities to use when attacked. Each ability has a cooldown of 15 seconds. Finally, all the creatures are tameable and breedable. When bred, they lay eggs, except the aquatic ones. Now I'd like to present you these creatures in alphabetical order.

When riding a creature, you can use its ability (if it has one) by pressing R. You can also attack nearby enemies by pressing B.

### Amargasaurus

A huge herbivorous sauropod with beautiful crests. Spawns in forests and meadows. Rideable.

Tame food: Herbivorous Treat

Ability: Stomp. Breaks nearest blocks and deals a lot of damage to nearby enemies

Drop: Amargasaurus Spike, Dinosaur Hide & Meat

Connected Weapon: Amargasaurus Trident (hits all enemies in 2x2 area)

### Archelon

A giant carnivorous aquaitc turtle. Rideable.

Tame food: Tropical Fish

Ability: no ability

Drop: Archelon Shell, Giant Lungs (use underwater to replenish oxygen; it slowly repairs on air)

### Deinocheirus

Though peaceful-looking, this giant theropod is predator. Spawns in forests and meadows. Rideable.

Tame food: Honey Block

Ability: Overpower. Deals 3 rapid attacks using its giant hands

Drop: Deinocheirus Hand, Dinosaur Fur & Meat

Connected Weapon: Deinocheirus Saw (can be used both for combat and cutting trees)

### Mosasaurus

The ultimate oceanic predator which even archelons are afraid of. Rideable.

### Nanuqsaurus

Carnivorous theropod which lives in cold snowy biomes. Its attacks applies Polar Touch effect which slows down entities attack speed and prohibits health regeneration. Rideable.

Ability: passively applies Polar Touch when attacks

Drop: Nanuqsaurus Claw, Dinosaur Fur & Meat

Connected Weapon: Nanuqsaurus Blade (applies Polar Touch on hit)

### Pachyrinosaurus

Herbivorous ceratopsian living in cold biomes. When defending, it knocks back the enemies. Rideable.

Ability: passively knock backs the enemies

Drop: Pachyrinosaurus Wart, Horn & Collar, Dinosaur Hide & Meat

Connected Weapon: Pachyrinosaurus Shield (when blocking, applies Thyreophora Grace; deals damage to enemies who attack the owner), Pachyrinosaurus Maul (mines 3x3 and has extra knockback)

### Protoceratops
