📋 About This Mod

### Why Did I Make This Mod? Food is one of the most integral elements to human culture and survival Minecraft, even since some of the Classic builds (...of both human culture *and* Minecraft, to clarify). Nowadays the game has a plethora of ways to fill your hunger bar, and every player can choose a satisfying food source to nourish themselves all the way up until the endgame- *hold on a second, I'm getting a phone call.* > Hello? > > > > What?! Steak and golden carrots are the only viable options??! > > > > ...I understand. Bye. Well, I stand corrected. Turns out all that stuff I said before doesn't exactly hold to reality. Sweet berries? *Only a useful food in the earlygame.* \ Pumpkins? *I hope you like pie...* \ Can I be vegan in Minecraft? *Yeah, if you like carrots.* \ Hey, I see you can make suspicious stew that gives you Saturation! That's gotta be really good, right? *Good luck having more than a few in your inventory at a time.* \ Umm. can I at least have some bacon and eggs? *Not a chance.* Meanwhile, you can get and hold an entire stack of steaks with comparatively little effort, and golden carrots are not that much harder to obtain. Sure they require a little setup, but there is little to no afterthought once you get a good supply of them, only the occasional annoyance of having to eat when the mechanic is at that point more of a formality than a challenge. ### The Philosophy So, this is where this mod comes in. The goal of this mod is threefold: provide additional food types that are **vanilla-based**, **flavorful** and **thematically consistent**. Beetroots are no longer totally useless beyond red dye. Exotic non-food items such as sea pickles and glow ink sacs see additional use in new crafting recipes. And most crucially... food is the form of self expression that it should be. ### The Features So far this mod adds **71** unique foods to the game, including: - Large meals like bacon and eggs (callback!) and flan! - Ice creams and pies, with the former giving you potion effects when consumed! - More cookies, which can be shaped with cookie cutters and given frosting which can be dyed! - Foods made from monster parts, like spider eye meatballs and the ever-dreaded *Monster Manicotti*... (please don't.) This mod also gives you the option to tweak exsting food items. You can make foods take half the normal time to eat, and you can have bowl foods like soups and stews stack as much as you want! <details> <summary>old description (before 8/19/26)</summary> ### So, uh, what does this mod add exactly? Currently, this mod adds 32 new foods to the game (21 shown here). Well, I say "new," but they're more or less built from the already existing foods. No new crops or anything like that. ### why u make dis mod I wanted to make other items in Minecraft more viable for making food so that there aren't just two or three de facto foods that players end up using. I generally go by three rules: 1. Limit my base additions to vanilla items as much as possible. 2. Give each and every food item a niche that remains beneficial no matter which stage of the game you're at. 3. Try and fail to make my additions thematically appropriate. Your mileage may vary with this one. </details>
