📋 About This Mod
Had this sitting around. Realized we can edit cuttable enemies now. Exported to game.
Some more fun development facts relating to this:
- In the VGA trailer he's seen in, both the "TEST TEST TEST" and "STRIBOG CONSULTING INC" texts are missing. Presumably, they had already ditched Stribog as a corporate entity at this point in development and were just using the model as a placeholder until the Desperado designs were ready.
- Despite looking human and having red blood, that same trailer shows what looks like white versions of the cyborg insides we know as orange in the final game. More evidence of placeholder-ism?
- According to concept art, Stribog was supposed to be a faction in the original Metal Gear Solid: Rising interquel that would show Raiden becoming a cyborg for the first time. Boris worked for them before joining up with Raiden. Technically, we have no proof this is no longer canon.
Unfortunately, because of how I regenerated all the data relating to cutting, the physics are a little off, and the soldiers have no insides. Sue me.
To install, create an "em" folder inside your GameData folder, and place em0142.dat inside that folder.
To replace other enemies, simply rename em0142.dat to em0140.dat (R-01, R-02), em0144.dat (R-04, R-05, R-07), or em0160.dat (R-03). I haven't tested any of those and I'm about 90% sure it's impossible to Zandatsu these guys the way I have them set up, but, you're welcome to try.
To uninstall, delete em0142.dat or otherwise remove it from GameData to somewhere else.
Restores the em0010 'Stribog Consulting Inc' soldier from demo files and the VGA trailer, replacing basic R-00 enemies in the prologue. A niche cosmetic/enemy replacement mod with 3 endorsements and 162 downloads, last updated December 2024.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Brings back a cut enemy design for lore fans and trailer enthusiasts
- Simple concept: swaps basic enemies for a more distinctive look
- Small but dedicated niche (3 endorsements, 162 downloads)
⚠️ Cons
- Very low endorsement count (3) suggests limited testing or community feedback
- Only affects prologue enemies, so impact is limited to early game
For players who remember the VGA trailer and want to see that Stribog soldier in the actual game. Also for modders interested in how demo content can be restored. Skip if you want major gameplay changes—this is purely a visual enemy replacement.
