📋 About This Mod
You're blue now! That's my attack! Nyeh heh heh!
Metal Gear Rising's plot, if you've ever bothered to pay attention to it, makes a fairly big deal about how World Marshal's press is too good to take them down by just blowing the whistle. They've very carefully kept all their links to Desperado secret, and any evidence a third party does find can be swept under the rug.
So why is it that any journalist can walk in the front door of their office and see a Desperado logo on the attendant robot!? There's a Desperado logo directly under the badge of every cop! In R-07, Raiden expresses surprise that the red soldiers with Desperado logos are using Desperado codes; does their "alibi" involve hacking a paint job?
This mod aims to rectify that, changing the red Desperado logos on advanced enemies (R-03 onward) to white World Marshal logos, along with generally using the hue slider on their textures for a still-intimidating but more-fitting black and blue rather than black and red. There's also a download to upgrade the broadsword cyborgs and Mastiffs in R-03 to the blue version, and downgrade the standard cyborgs and Gekkos in R-05 to the R-03 version. (Why would they send out their personal security for that? Protecting the city overall is still police work.)
This mod makes Broadsword Cyborgs, Mastiffs (including eye lights), and Gekkos blue with white decals, Hammer Cyborgs gray with white decals, and Standard Cyborgs actually use normally-hidden police textures, so, gray and blue with white decals. Sliders, Raptors, and Fenrirs are unmodified, since they don't have any variants to distinguish R-01 and R-02 appearances as not-World-Marshal. I choose to imagine those aren't normally deployed in the city; they were probably shipped in from wherever Desperado keeps them as extra support, and only far enough inside the evacuated area nobody would see them.
To install, extract the zip and merge the GameData folder with your existing GameData folder, for each download. You will likely need a one of the available 4GB File Unlimiter patches. To uninstall, delete the em, wp, ph3, and ph5 folders created by installing, or at least the contents of those folders that came with this mod.
Future wishlist:
- Fix Mastiff eye lights in the underground section, they seem to use a different effect that's still red.
- Recolor soldiers in cutscenes, primarily Monsoon's.
This does make R-03 harder and R-05 easier, I don't really care.
A compact retexture mod that turns Desperado enemies from R-04 onward into blue World Marshal cyborgs, with optional variant changes in R-03 and R-05. For Metal Gear Rising fans wanting a fresh look for these foes.
