📋 About This Mod
Increases the base heat dissipation and capacity for mechs with internal Double Heatsinks. Confirmed compatible with DLC7!
Finally, mechs that come with Double Heatsinks in their engines receive additional base cooling and heat capacity increase by default! Star
League Mechs, late era mechs, and even a number of heroes are vastly increased in power with this mod enabled.
This mod comes in two versions: Default, and Balanced Mode.
Default Mode: Increases base cooling for Engine Double Heatsinks, as well as Heat Capacity bonus, by 2x over vanilla. Arguably overpowered, but in line with Tabletop!
Balanced Mode: Increases base cooling for Engine Double Heatsinks by 40%, closer to Mechwarrior Online's balancing. Makes DHS mechs still appealing, but not blatantly overpowered. Clan Mechs are still 2x to keep their tech more powerful.
Special Thanks to: DeadRaiser, Gilgamexican, Yrrot, Merlock from the YA Modding Community.
COMPATIBILITY:
Not compatible with YAML or MercTech. They have their own methods of handling increased heat dissipation.
Not compatible with Serious Heat Rebalance (WIP)
* Now Compatible and recommended with Unofficial Mechwarrior V Patch
Serious Heat Sink Fix (DLC7 Compatible) doubles base dissipation and increases base heat capacity for mechs equipped with Engine Double Heat Sinks. Works with Shadows of Kerensky. A straightforward balance tweak for BattleTech players.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 337 endorsements.
- Simple, focused balance change that makes Double Heat Sinks more viable.
- Updated recently (November 2025), so likely works with current game version.
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects Engine Double Heat Sinks—if you wanted changes to standard heat sinks, this isn't it.
- No detailed documentation on exact numbers or installation steps.
- May unbalance gameplay for players who prefer vanilla balance.
For BattleTech players who feel Engine Double Heat Sinks underperform and want a straightforward buff. Perfect for mechwarriors who want more heat management headroom without overhauling the whole heat system. Skip if you're happy with vanilla balance or want a comprehensive heat rework.
