In Mechwarrior 5, a mech's engine contains a number of built in heat sinks based on the engine rating. each single heat sink (SHS) contribute 0. 1 to the mech's heat dissipation. Each double heat sink (DHS) contributes 0. 2. This means most mechs with SHS should have a baseCoolingRate of 1 (0. 1 x 10) and most mechs with DHS should have a baseCoolingRate of 2 (0. 2 x 10). For some reason in Mechwarrior 5, all mechs have a baseCoolingRate that is calculated as though the mech's engine contains SHS, even if the engine actually contains DHS. This mod increases the baseCoolingRate of mechs with DHS from . 1 to . 2 per built in heat sink, which significantly increases the mech's effectiveness.
