📋 About This Mod

Less fun. Less colors. Lots of depression. That's how I live my life. And that's how I like to play Mount and Blade.Don't get me wrong, folks. I love Gekokujo to death and it's probably one of my favorite Mount and Blade modules. However I've always felt that the armor was waaaaay too colorful looking. Especially the Takeda and Mori armors. I needed to do something about this. So at like 3:00 in the morning when I really should have been sleeping, I set out to make every piece of Gekokujo armor look slightly more boring. You're welcome.

To install my little ball of sadness into your very own Gekokujo, you should probably navigate all the way to the modules folder, to the Gekokujo directory, and drag the texture folder in. Replace everything, and voila! It's installed.

Oh by the way, I have version 3. 0 and I don't know if it'll work with any other version lower than that. So yeah.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

A compact texture mod for Mount & Blade: Warband's Gekokujo mod that tones down the vibrant armor colors to a drabber, more realistic palette. With 62 endorsements and 1,220 downloads, it's a niche choice for players seeking a grittier look. Last updated in 2016, so compatibility with current versions is unverified.

✨ Key Features

Reduces the vibrancy of Gekokujo armor textures, making them drabbier.
Small mod size, focused purely on texture changes.
Simple installation—likely just drop-in files.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Gives Gekokujo a more grounded, realistic feel—perfect for players who find the default armor too flashy.
  • Lightweight and focused; doesn't touch gameplay or other systems.
  • Decent community traction for a niche mod (62 endorsements, 1,220 downloads).

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2016—may not be compatible with the latest Gekokujo or Warband patches.
  • No screenshots or detailed previews in the description, so you're flying blind on the exact visual changes.
  • Only affects armor textures—if you wanted other visual overhauls, this won't help.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Gekokujo players who want a grittier, less colorful aesthetic without overhauling the whole game. Skip if you're happy with the default look or want more comprehensive texture changes.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Back up your original textures before replacing them, so you can revert if you don't like the new look.
  • If you're using a mod manager, check if it supports texture overrides for Gekokujo—otherwise, manual installation is straightforward.
  • Test the mod in a battle scene to see the armor changes in different lighting before committing to a playthrough.
