Historical Background The DD MK18 traces its heritage to the MK18 Close Quarters Battle Receiver (CQBR) program developed in the early 2000s for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Daniel Defense became one of the primary manufacturers of components for the MK18 program, most notably the RIS II free-floating quad-rail handguard, which was officially adopted for military use by U. S. Special Operations Forces. Building on this experience, Daniel Defense introduced its own commercial and duty-ready DD MK18, retaining the signature 10. 3-inch barrel, compact configuration, and exceptional modularity of the military design. Today, the DD MK18 is widely used by law enforcement agencies, security professionals, competitive shooters, and civilian firearm owners, and is regarded as one of the highest-quality factory implementations of the MK18 platform.
