De Lisle Commando Carbine

"Bolt-Action Carbine" "When the bullet striking the target is louder than the shot itself." De Lisle Commando Carbine The De Lisle Commando Carbine is a British bolt-action carbine designed for exceptionally quiet operation during covert military missions. The weapon combines a manually operated rotating bolt with a large integral suppressor. Paired with the naturally subsonic . 45 ACP cartridge, this configuration produced one of the quietest firearms of the Second World War. Notable features include: — . 45 ACP (11. 43×23mm) chambering — manually operated rotating bolt-action — large integral suppressor — detachable 7- or 10-round box magazine (compatible with the Colt M1911 pistol magazine) — outstanding accuracy with virtually no muzzle flash — compact wooden stock The combination of bolt-action operation and an efficient suppressor allowed the De Lisle Commando Carbine to deliver extremely quiet and discreet fire with minimal signature. Its precision and reliability made it particularly valuable for reconnaissance, sabotage, and special operations. Historical Background In 1942, British engineer William Godfray De Lisle designed a suppressed carbine specifically for special operations forces. The weapon incorporated components from the Lee-Enfield rifle along with a shortened barrel and a large integral suppressor optimized for the subsonic . 45 ACP cartridge. Trials demonstrated extraordinary sound suppression, with the impact of the bullet often being louder than the report of the shot itself. As a result, the carbine entered limited service with British Commandos, the Special Operations Executive (SOE), and other Allied special units. Although produced in relatively small numbers, the De Lisle Commando Carbine is widely regarded as one of the most effective suppressed firearms of the Second World War and an important milestone in the development of specialized covert weapons.
