AKM GL

"Assault rifle with under-barrel grenade launcher" “One soldier, two weapons, endless possibilities.” AKM + GP-25 The AKM with the GP-25 grenade launcher is a Soviet infantry weapon system combining the proven reliability of the AKM with the added firepower of the GP-25 Kostyor. The rifle is chambered in 7. 62×39mm, while the GP-25 fires 40mm caseless grenades, allowing the operator to engage targets behind cover, in trenches, or at extended ranges. The AKM utilizes a gas-operated long-stroke piston system, renowned for reliability under harsh battlefield conditions. The GP-25 mounts directly beneath the rifle barrel and is loaded from the muzzle, providing infantry units with organic explosive firepower without requiring a separate weapon. Together, the system offers a balance of: — automatic rifle fire — explosive support capability — battlefield versatility — proven reliability The combination became a common sight among Soviet and Warsaw Pact forces. Historical Background The GP-25 Kostyor was developed in the 1970s for Soviet infantry forces as a lightweight alternative to standalone grenade launchers. Although originally associated with the AK-74, the GP-25 was also mounted on various Kalashnikov-pattern rifles, including the AKM. The launcher significantly increased the firepower available to individual soldiers, allowing them to engage enemy positions with high-explosive grenades without calling for heavier support. The AKM/GP-25 combination saw widespread service throughout the late Cold War and in numerous regional conflicts around the world. Today, it remains one of the most recognizable rifle-and-grenade-launcher combinations ever fielded. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
