FN X8E1

"Experimental rifle" “A forgotten step toward the modern rifle.” FN X8E1 The FN X8E1 is an experimental rifle developed by Fabrique Nationale during the early stages of modern infantry weapon evolution. It represents a lesser-known attempt to explore new configurations and concepts beyond traditional battle rifle designs. The rifle is believed to have been chambered in an intermediate cartridge, reflecting the shift toward controllable automatic fire and reduced recoil compared to full-power rifle rounds. Like many FN developments of the era, the X8E1 likely utilized a gas-operated system, emphasizing reliability and adaptability. Although detailed specifications remain scarce, the weapon is generally associated with prototype testing and conceptual development, rather than full-scale production. Its design reflects the transitional period between classic battle rifles and modern assault rifles. Historical Background The FN X8E1 emerged in the mid-20th century, a time when Fabrique Nationale was actively experimenting with new rifle concepts. This period included the development of influential firearms such as the FN FAL, which would go on to achieve global success. The X8E1 remained an experimental platform, likely used in trials or internal research, and did not enter mass production or widespread service. Today, it is considered a rare and obscure prototype, representing an evolutionary step in FN’s design history. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
