OTs-12 Tiss

"Compact assault rifle" “Compact AK power in a suppressed battlefield role.” OTs-12 Tiss The OTs-12 Tiss is a compact assault rifle developed in Russia by KBP Instrument Design Bureau. It is based on the AKS-74U platform and adapted to fire the 9×39mm cartridge. The rifle operates using a gas-operated system with a rotating bolt, typical of Kalashnikov designs, ensuring high reliability in demanding conditions. Chambered in 9×39mm, the OTs-12 is designed for close-quarters combat, offering enhanced stopping power and compatibility with subsonic ammunition, making it suitable for suppressed use. Its compact size makes it ideal for urban operations, vehicle crews, and special units. The weapon uses detachable box magazines, similar to other rifles in its class. Despite its practical design, the OTs-12 remains relatively rare and was produced in limited numbers. Historical Background The OTs-12 Tiss was developed in the 1990s by KBP Instrument Design Bureau. It was intended as an alternative to more specialized weapons like the AS Val, offering similar ballistic performance in a more familiar AK-style platform. The rifle was primarily aimed at law enforcement and special forces, particularly for operations requiring compact weapons with high stopping power. However, it was eventually overshadowed by more advanced and purpose-built 9×39 systems, limiting its widespread adoption. Today, the OTs-12 Tiss is considered a rare and experimental branch of the Kalashnikov evolution. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
