AK-205

"Assault rifle / carbine (AK platform)" “Modern control with classic Kalashnikov DNA.” AK-205 The AK-205 is a modern Kalashnikov-pattern rifle associated with the AK-200 series, developed by Kalashnikov Concern. It is typically interpreted as a 5. 45×39mm variant within the series, combining classic Kalashnikov reliability with modern upgrades. The rifle operates using the traditional gas-operated system with a rotating bolt, ensuring dependable performance in harsh conditions. Chambered in 5. 45×39mm, the AK-205 offers lower recoil, higher controllability, and improved accuracy in automatic fire compared to 7. 62 variants. Modern features commonly associated with the AK-200 family include polymer furniture, accessory rails, improved ergonomics, and compatibility with modern optics. Its configuration suggests a balance between standard rifle performance and compact handling, suitable for both general infantry use and close-quarters scenarios. Historical Background The AK-205 belongs to the broader AK-200 series, developed in the 2010s by Kalashnikov Concern. This series represents an evolution of earlier Kalashnikov designs, incorporating modern materials and modular features. While officially recognized models include rifles like the AK-12 (5. 45×39mm), designations such as AK-205 are less standardized and are often associated with export, prototype, or catalog variants. As such, the AK-205 is best understood as a conceptual or lesser-known member of the AK-200 family rather than a widely fielded service rifle.
