L86A2 LSW

"Light Support Weapon" “Precision support in a compact bullpup platform.” L86A2 LSW The L86A2 Light Support Weapon (LSW) is a British squad automatic weapon developed as part of the SA80 family of small arms. It is designed to provide accurate sustained fire to support infantry units while maintaining the compact bullpup configuration typical of the series. Chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO, the L86A2 features a longer and heavier barrel than the standard rifle variant, improving accuracy and heat resistance during extended firing. The weapon operates using a gas-operated rotating bolt system and feeds from standard detachable box magazines compatible with other SA80 weapons. Unlike many traditional light machine guns, the L86A2 emphasizes precision and controllability rather than extremely high rates of suppressive fire. A built-in bipod and optical sight enhance its role as a designated support weapon within the squad. Key features: Chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO Bullpup configuration Longer heavy barrel for improved accuracy Gas-operated rotating bolt system Integrated bipod for supported firing Historical Background The L86 Light Support Weapon was introduced in the mid-1980s as part of the British Army’s SA80 small arms program, which also produced the standard infantry rifle L85. The A2 upgrade program was carried out in the early 2000s by Heckler & Koch to address reliability issues found in the original SA80 series. Improvements included redesigned internal components and enhanced durability. Although intended to serve as a squad automatic weapon, the L86A2 was eventually considered less effective for sustained suppressive fire compared to belt-fed machine guns. As a result, it was gradually replaced in the support role by the FN Minimi in many British Army units. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
