FG 42

"Automatic rifle / squad support weapon" “Innovation born from airborne warfare.” FG 42 The FG 42 is a German automatic rifle developed during World War II specifically for airborne troops. Designed to combine the roles of a rifle, light machine gun, and automatic weapon, it offered paratroopers a powerful and versatile firearm in a relatively compact package. The weapon is chambered in 7. 92×57mm Mauser and features selective fire capability. It uses a gas-operated system and feeds from a detachable 20-round box magazine mounted on the side of the receiver. The FG 42 also includes a built-in bipod and could mount a bayonet or grenade launcher, reflecting its multi-role design philosophy. Its advanced construction and lightweight design made it one of the most innovative firearms of the war, though it was complex and expensive to produce. Key features: Chambered in 7. 92×57mm Mauser Selective fire capability Gas-operated mechanism Side-mounted 20-round magazine Integrated bipod for automatic fire Historical Background The FG 42 was developed for the German airborne forces of Luftwaffe following the costly airborne assault during the Battle of Crete in 1941. German paratroopers initially carried only pistols and submachine guns during jumps, with heavier weapons delivered separately. The FG 42 was designed to solve this problem by giving paratroopers a powerful rifle capable of both semi-automatic precision and automatic suppressive fire. Although produced in limited numbers, the FG 42 became one of the most advanced small arms of World War II. Its design later influenced several post-war firearms, including aspects of the American M60 machine gun. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
