AS Val

"Suppressed assault rifle" “Silent firepower for covert operations.” AS Val The AS Val is a specialized suppressed assault rifle chambered in 9×39mm, designed for stealth operations and close-range engagements. Its integrated suppressor and subsonic ammunition allow it to deliver effective fire while significantly reducing noise and muzzle flash. The rifle operates using a gas-operated system with a rotating bolt and fires from a closed bolt, providing good accuracy in both semi-automatic and automatic fire. The AS Val features a compact design with a skeletonized folding stock, making it suitable for covert missions and operations in confined environments. The weapon uses detachable 20-round magazines and fires heavy subsonic projectiles capable of penetrating body armor at moderate distances. Key features: Chambered in 9×39mm Integrated suppressor system Selective fire (semi-automatic and automatic) Compact design with folding stock Designed for subsonic armor-piercing ammunition Historical Background The AS Val was developed in the late 1980s by the Soviet defense institute TSNIITOCHMASH as part of a program to create specialized suppressed weapons for special forces units. It was designed alongside the sniper rifle VSS Vintorez, with both weapons sharing many components and using the same 9×39mm cartridge. While the VSS was optimized for precision shooting, the AS Val was intended for automatic fire and assault roles in covert operations. The rifle was adopted by Soviet special forces and security units near the end of the Cold War and continues to be used by various Russian military and law enforcement units today.
